Massage & Trigger Point Therapy
Massage therapy can be effective for a variety of conditions, such as back pain, arthritis, and carpal tunnel syndrome. In addition to helping the body relax, it can reduce muscle tension and inflammation. Our chiropractor utilizes various techniques, such as trigger point therapy and vibratory massage, to help you feel your best. We may also sometimes combine massage therapy and chiropractic adjustments, as it can speed up the healing process.
Trigger point therapy is a specialized type of massage therapy that targets your trigger points -- the locations of the origin of your pain. For instance, you may have lower back pain as a result of an issue with your legs. Therefore, the massage focuses on your legs. Dr. Trowbridge massages the center around your triggers point to ease the pressure. The entire concept of trigger point therapy revolves around the fact that waste products build around your nerve clusters and stimulate nerve pain and other nerve-related symptoms. Sometimes, these symptoms spread beyond the initial site of the pain because the waste can cause bands or nodules that press on your soft tissue. The massage breaks up the clusters to ease your symptoms.
